1. Who we are and what this policy covers

MemEasy is a local-first personal note-taking tool organized by date and tags. Its current features include notes, tags, search, to-dos, anniversaries, local reminders, and personal settings.

The current release does not require an account and does not provide cloud synchronization or collaboration. The app and the components audited for this build do not implement a feature that sends note content to a server operated by the developer. This does not mean data can never leave a device: operating-system backup or device-migration services may process app data according to the platform and the user's settings, as explained below.

2. Information processed locally on your device

The following information is created by you or selected by you and is stored in the app's private storage area on your device. The developer does not receive a server-side copy of this content through the app.

InformationExamplesPurpose and handling
Notes and recordsText, record timestamp, tags, pinned stateSaved, displayed, edited, searched, and organized locally
To-do detailsCompletion state, due date/time, reminder lead time, recurrence rule, completion countLocal task status, overdue display, and reminders
Calendar and anniversary dataDates, recurrence, reminder lead days, week start, time formatLocal calendar and anniversary views and reminders
TagsTag name, color, order, hidden stateOrganize and filter records
PreferencesTheme, dark mode, nickname, preset avatarPersonalize the interface
Selected avatar photoOne image selected through the system photo pickerCopied into app-private storage and resized for display; the app does not read the entire photo library
Local reminder configurationScheduled reminder title, body, time, and plugin settingsSchedule and deliver local reminders through system services
Local recovery filesjiyi_data.json.tmp, jiyi_data.json.bak, and related app-private filesReduce the risk of corruption after an interrupted write; a recovery file may temporarily contain a prior state

Notes are free-form text. Please consider whether you should store highly sensitive information such as passwords, account credentials, identity numbers, or health details. Except for local processing needed to provide the app's functions, note content is not sent to us by the app.

3. What the app does not do

The audited baseline build has no advertising, advertising identifier, analytics, event tracking, crash-reporting, third-party sign-in, payment SDK, cloud-sync, or server push SDK. The code and components reviewed for this build did not show an implementation that sends note content to a developer-operated server.

We do not sell notes or provide them to advertisers. MemEasy does not operate a cloud account or server-side database for your notes.

4. Permissions and photo selection

4.1 Android

  • Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): The app requests notification permission when you enable the daily reminder or set a reminder for a to-do. If you deny it, core note and task functions remain available, but notifications may not appear.
  • Exact alarms (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM): On Android 12 and later, enabling reminders may take you to system settings to grant exact-alarm access. Without it, reminders may be scheduled less precisely.
  • Restore reminders after reboot (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): Used to re-register scheduled local reminders after a device restart; no runtime permission prompt is shown.
  • Vibration (VIBRATE): Used when a notification vibrates; no runtime prompt is shown.
  • The audited release APK does not declare INTERNET, camera, location, contacts, SMS/call-log, Bluetooth, or advertising-ID permissions.

4.2 iOS

  • Notifications: The app requests notification authorization when you enable the daily reminder or set a reminder for a to-do. If you deny permission, reminders may not be delivered, while local note functions remain available.
  • Photos: When changing the avatar, the app uses the system photo picker and receives the single image you select. It does not request camera access or browse the full photo library.
  • Network: iOS does not use an Android-style INTERNET manifest permission. The audited iOS build and bundled components did not show app code or plugin APIs implementing requests to a developer-operated server. This should not be described as “iOS has no network permission.”
  • The audited iOS build does not use remote push notifications and does not register for remote notifications.

4.3 Selecting an avatar

You choose one image through the operating system's photo picker. The selected image is copied into the app's private storage and resized to reduce storage use. The original image in your photo library is not modified. The app does not use the camera for this feature.

5. Local storage, backups, and device migration

5.1 Local storage

Notes, tags, preferences, and avatar copies are stored in the app's private container. The operating system's app sandbox helps restrict direct access by other ordinary apps. This is not an additional encrypted vault or app-lock feature: the current version does not provide an app lock or a separate user-controlled encryption layer. Device encryption, passcodes, and backup behavior depend on your device and operating-system settings.

5.2 Android backup

The current Android release does not explicitly disable Auto Backup and does not provide dedicated backup-exclusion rules. If Android system backup is enabled and its conditions are met, the operating system may back up app-private files and some SharedPreferences to the user's own Google account backup storage, and may restore them to a device. This may include the notes JSON, avatar images, recovery files, and the local notification plugin cache; that cache may contain scheduled reminder titles and bodies. The exact behavior depends on Android version, device implementation, account, and backup settings.

These copies are managed by the operating system and the user's account. We do not have an interface to access those backup copies, and MemEasy cannot directly view or delete a copy held by the system backup service. Deleting a note in the app or uninstalling the app does not necessarily remove an older copy already retained by system backup; a restored backup may bring prior data back. Manage these copies through your device and account backup settings.

5.3 iOS backup

The current iOS build stores the main data file and avatar copies in the app's Documents directory. If you enable iCloud device backup or make a Finder backup, these files may be included according to Apple's backup behavior and your settings. The backup copy is controlled through your Apple account or computer backup; we do not receive or access it. Deleting local records or uninstalling the app does not guarantee that an existing backup copy is also deleted. Manage those copies through your Apple device and backup settings.

5.4 Temporary and recovery files

The app uses temporary files and a previous-state recovery file to reduce data corruption during writes. A recently deleted or edited item may temporarily remain in a local recovery file until a later write overwrites it or app data is cleared. The current version does not provide a user-facing export/import backup feature.

6. Local notifications and lock-screen display

When you configure a to-do or anniversary reminder, or enable the daily reminder, the app passes the minimum information needed to schedule the reminder (such as title, body, and trigger time) to the platform's local notification/reminder service. Whether reminder content appears on the lock screen depends on your system notification and privacy settings. The current version does not use a remote push service.

7. Sharing, service providers, and international transfers

We do not operate a server that collects, stores, or analyzes your MemEasy notes, and the audited build does not implement sending note content to our or a third-party business server. We do not sell or share notes with advertisers.

The relevant platform exceptions are operating-system backup or device-migration services, and the local notification service needed to deliver reminders. Those services operate under the applicable platform provider's systems, settings, and terms. We cannot access platform backup copies. This is not a cloud-sync feature operated by MemEasy.

8. Retention and deletion

App data generally remains on your device until you delete it in the app, related files are overwritten, app data is cleared, or the app is uninstalled. Recovery files may be overwritten during later saves or removed when app data is cleared. Platform backup copies are governed by the relevant platform's retention and deletion mechanisms and cannot be directly deleted by MemEasy.

Because the current version has no account and no server-side copy of your notes, we cannot remotely retrieve, export, or delete notes stored on your device. You can edit or delete records in the app. The current version does not offer a standalone export/import feature. Before changing devices, review the relevant system backup and migration behavior.

9. Security and user precautions

The app uses app-private storage, atomic writes, and a local recovery file to reduce ordinary risks of accidental access and data corruption. The current version does not implement a separate app lock, user-set password, or app-layer end-to-end encryption. Protect your device with a passcode and consider whether you want private notes included in system backups.

10. Children and information about other people

The app does not ask for a user's age and has no account system designed to identify age. Parents or guardians should guide minors in using devices and note-taking tools as appropriate. The app allows free-form text entry; do not record, copy, or share another person's personal information—especially sensitive information—unless you have an appropriate lawful basis or authorization.

11. Changes to this policy

If features, permissions, dependencies, storage paths, or data flows change, we will reassess and update this policy and the relevant store disclosures. The updated policy will be provided with the applicable app version and the public policy page will show its version and date. For material changes, we will provide notices as required by applicable laws and platform rules.
